About Dr. Banta
Dr. Banta is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, a fellowship-trained spine surgeon and has been in private practice in Dallas, Texas, since September 1,1991. He presently practices on a daily basis evaluating patients and treating adult spinal disorders.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, and he was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. After graduating Valedictorian from the Sam Barthe School in New Orleans, he attended the University of Virginia he graduated with an honors degree in Biology in 1981. He then attended Louisiana State University Medicine School in New Orleans and graduated with a medical doctorate in 1985. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery in 1990 at LSU Charity Hospital of New Orleans, where he served as Chief Resident of New Orleans Children’s Hospital and Charity Hospital of New Orleans during that period of time. After completion of his residency, he did a fellowship in adult spine surgery at the Wiltse Spine Institute in Long Beach, California. Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr. Banta began his practice of spine surgery in Dallas where he was practiced since September 1991.
Dr. Banta is Board Certified since 1993 by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has been re-certified in 2003, 2013 and 2023. He has been an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, Dallas County Medical Society Texas Medical Association serving on several program committees. He has also authored multiple papers, book chapters moderated surgeon programs, and has been involved in the development and teaching of new innovative spinal procedures.
