Spinal cord decompression surgery is a general term for surgical procedures performed to alleviate pain caused by pinched nerves in the spine. Dr. Jones-Quaidoo removes a small portion of the bone over the nerve root, called lamina, and/or disc material from either the spinal cord itself or from under the nerve root to give the nerve more space.
